The Lonely Dilettante

The train door closes and carries its passengers away.

They’re all smiling at their phones.

Chirps and vibrations,

Dings and dongs.

They’re all busy but he is alone.

One man is talking loudly on speaker, an empty-headed conversation.

To ask him to take it off speaker well is really quite the temptation.

Another man is playing a tune, but the tune is far from a sensation.

“Well if I were you I’d pipe all the way down with that meaningless music.
And buy earbuds as not to disturb, massaging your mind with meaningless words that should not ever be heard.”

A pretty girl sits far from his left, dawning a face that says “leave me alone!”

Well, he can’t argue with that logic, but does the nostalgic, and day-dreams in his haunted mind he calls home.

A mouse of a woman who takes up two seats taps quietly away at her screen.

She makes a few taps and then 3 seconds in he finds that she is face-ti-ming.

“What is it I lack that scares them away? I have style, I have looks, I have gall!”

“You’re too much a dummy! And too far from funny, gall is not good at all!

If you tried being nice you’d have way more friends you judge us in silence, judge one, judge two, judge all.

You make us feel lesser, well that’s quite a stressor, we can not be perfect as you.

If you had an error or you had a problem I’m quite sure that no one knew.”

— Nice guys listen first and speak last.
